Description
Hydroquinone is a white, crystalline powder that is sparingly soluble in water and alcohol. When applied to the skin, it works by inhibiting the activity of an enzyme called tyrosinase, which is involved in the production of melanin, the pigment responsible for skin color. By reducing melanin production, hydroquinone helps to lighten and even out the skin tone.
